Well Service Pump System – order received

We are delighted to have received a purchase order for a mobile, ATEX-rated well service pump unit. What a great start to 2025!

This unit joins the list of well service pump systems we have supplied over the last forty+ years. Our systems are of a bespoke design to suit specific applications and areas of operation. Generally, the systems are for high pressure applications in hazardous areas locations. In addition to trailer mounted units and the popular pump skids, we thrive on designing pump systems where weight and access are important considerations. Over the last ten years, the requirement for lightweight, compact and modular pump skids has kept us very busy.

This latest well service pump system will be designed, built, and tested here at our factory in Worcester, UK. Included in the scope of supply is training and onsite commissioning.

The New System

The unit will provide land-based support for the energy sector offering high pressure injection of a range of fluids. An integral boiler will, where necessary, heat the process fluid to reduce viscosity and facilitate efficient fluid transfer. The entire Calder-built system will be housed in an ISO container which will be mounted onto a 40-ft, road-going trailer.

The High Pressure Pump

The selected pump for this system is the Hammelmann Hampro 200 series. The pump is of a vertical configuration which reduces unit footprint and minimizes stress on the installation frame due to the prevention of undesirable lateral oscillations. The pump features a Duplex stainless steel suction chamber, ceramic plungers, and dynamic high pressure seals with special packings. The design includes a zero leakage system, pressurised oil lubrication circuit with built-in oil cooler, and internal speed reduction gear, designed using FEM analysis for long field life.

System Features

  • Variable Speed Drive – a Programmable Logic Control (PLC) system has been incorporated for pressure control.
  • Flow Meter – fitted in the discharge line for connection to the Calder control panel. Provides instantaneous flow reading and a flow totalizer.
  • Fire Suppression System – manual and automatic fire suppression activation button
  • Pneumatically Operated Pressure Regulating Valve – diverts waste water to or from the HP pump.
  • HMI Control Panel – comprehensive controls and system monitoring.
  • Stainless Steel Fluid Tank – with level switches, level gauge and pump water cooling connections.
  • Chemical Dosing Pump.
  • 650 kW Boiler Assembly

Original Pump System

This well service pump unit will replace a similar unit that we supplied almost twenty years ago – see image at top of page. We have provided continuous support for our customer through spares, service, and technical advice. Four years after the original unit was supplied, our customer fed back to us that the system was either good/excellent in the areas of Functional Performance, Maintenance Requirements, Operating Costs, Safety Impact, and Environmental Impact.

Training, Commissioning and Support

As with all of the pump systems we manufacture, we support our customers with training, commissioning, spares and service. Our highly trained and vastly experienced service engineers keep your pumps running – onshore and offshore – and maximize system performance and longevity.
