Work Starts on Oxy Scavenger Injection Pump for Offshore, ATEX Zone 2 Environment

22nd Jul 2019

Our engineering team is working on the design of an oxygen scavenger injection unit for operation on an offshore platform in the Caspian Sea. The unit will inject the diluted oxygen scavenger into a re-injection well. Much downhole corrosion is caused by the introduction to the well of oxygen-containing liquids. The injection of oxygen scavenger removes the oxygen.

The unit will feature an electrically driven double-diaphragm pump in accordance with API 675 for operation in an ATEX Zone 2 hazardous environment. The controlled volume pump has an adjustable stroke which allows a variable flow without the need of a VSD. The automatic stroke adjustment will be controlled in line with re-injection requirements.

The equipment will be mounted into a crash frame. These are popular as they offer a good balance of protection for the equipment whilst minimising weight and giving all round access to the components.

The pump unit will be designed, built and tested in Worcester, UK and ready for despatch in Q3 2019.
